New England Culinary Institute is a private, co-educational school in Montpelier, Vermont. Founded in 1980, its mission was to create a new education model by immersing students from day one as apprentices to Master Chefs. Every student has one or more six-month paid internships at some of the finest restaurants, resorts and corporations in the world.

Nearly 30 years ago, NECI opened with a class of seven pioneering students. It now boasts over 500 students of diverse backgrounds and ages. Throughout its history, they have constantly added new programs to reflect the constantly evolving food and beverage industry. They started with one program in 1980 and now offer nine in the areas of culinary arts, baking and pastry and hospitality and restaurant management. Throughout this time, the school has been dedicated to providing small classes, intense education, and a caring environment.

NECI has a faculty of fifty-four who have impressive educational credentials and broad based experience in the food and beverage industry. Students learn in nine production kitchens that include restaurants, bakeries, banquets, garde manger, and corporate dining rooms.

The Culinary Arts program at New England Culinary Institute combines the old world tradition of European apprenticeship with the American holistic approach to food preparation and entrepreneurship. On the very first day of class, you’ll be working alongside Chef Instructors to learn the techniques necessary for mastery of all culinary endeavors. Bachelor's and Associate of Occupational Studies degree programs in Culinary Arts encompass a well rounded education including classic techniques, world cuisines and food science and management. You’ll be learning in a working kitchen the very first day of class.
